Research Memo #3

Breast cancer not only affects the patient, but the family members as well. We all can learn a little something through media about breast cancer and its affects. Informative information on breast cancer can be displayed through all types of media. Breast cancer can be shown through the following: videos, quotes, pictures, and a song. Through my research I have found out more about breast cancer through videos and a song. Research is everywhere, its just waiting to be found.

As a part of memo three the first site I found was beyondtheshock.com. I found a video that related to most of my essential questions. The video was about questions that most women have when they are first diagnosed with breast cancer. It showed how breast cancer forms and how to detect it. This video explained what doctors really know about breast cancer and what they pretend to know. It also explains how a woman should react to her diagnoses and how to understand it. The video goes on to explain scientist have come to find out about cancer and the causes. There are several reasons as to why I chose this video. I felt that most important reason for this video was to better explain some of things that I could not.

An additional piece of media example I chose was a song by various artists. The song was “Just Stand Up.” This song came to mind because it relates to my topic in general so very well. In the song the many artists are singing inspirational and empowering words to the many breast cancer patients and survivors. It related to my research blog because it encourages all women to be strong and not give up. Stand up to cancer and do not let the cancer imprison you in your own mind. This song was aimed to raise awareness and bring about an understanding that everyone is connected to cancer. This song was first performed live during the telethon, and was released as a single via iTunes. I find so much power in these words “If the mind keeps thinking you’ve had enough, but the heart keeps telling you don’t give up.” To me these words to mean that the heart overpowers the mind, so therefore, you should listen to your heart.

Numerous things can take hold of ones attention, but media is one of the largest sources of all. By using any little bit of media it can grab the attention of an audience, fans, researchers, or even everyday people. I used media from songs and videos to find some of the information needed to complete my research. The two media examples, along with the others that I used helped me not only learn more about my topic, but see the answers to my questions, Through this process, I have learned that research takes time and effort, but no matter the question it can be answered if we just stay patient and look around.

Inspirational & Spiritual Words for a Cancer Patient !

"Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host. But anger is like fire. It burns it all clean".
~Maya Angelou

THE CANCER CHANT, I WILL RANT.

~ A poem contributed by a visitor of Healing Cancer Naturally

Cancer I did not give you the right,
To invade my body and take a bite.
This is my body and with all my might,
I will prevail with one hell of a fight.
To the cancer inside, I will battle and kill.
For that is my body's God given will.
To my cancer, these words I do send.
Your life is short and near the end.
~(For Lucy & all those fighting cancer)
